Spanish striker Joselu Mato expressed confidence on Monday that Dani Carvajal, who recently suffered a severe right knee injury, "will teach us a lesson" during his recovery and "will return stronger than ever" because "he deserves it."

“I visited him yesterday, and he’s understandably down about the situation. But without a doubt, he’ll teach us a lesson through this. He’s my family, and I feel this injury as if it happened to me,” the Al-Gharafa striker shared during an event in Villamanta where the Spanish national team received the International Sports Award of the Community of Madrid.

The former Real Madrid player emphasized that Carvajal, who sustained a triple tear to his anterior cruciate ligament, external collateral ligament, and popliteal tendon during the match against Villarreal, deserves "the best possible recovery." Joselu added, "Given the type of person and professional he is, he will recover exceptionally well and come back stronger than ever, without a doubt."

Joselu had previously posted an emotional message on social media on Sunday, expressing his sorrow: “I write through tears with the wish that it had happened to me instead. Now, we have a challenging road ahead, and I know you’ll tackle it in an admirable way, just like everything else you do."
