Josko Gvardiol has reportedly been offered to Real Madrid ahead of a summer transfer window in which the club is expected to prioritize defensive reinforcements.

The Croatian defender is one of the most highly rated center-backs in European football, and the possibility of his name resurfacing at Valdebebas has generated significant attention. Real Madrid’s sporting management is actively looking to strengthen the defensive line after a difficult season, although the club was not reportedly expecting this kind of approach.

Gvardiol has been on Real Madrid’s radar for several years. Before joining Manchester City in 2023, the defender had already been considered a possible target. However, City’s €90 million investment ultimately secured his signing and discouraged other interested clubs.

The 23-year-old has endured a difficult season due to a shin injury that has kept him out of action for several months. The defender underwent surgery in January and has yet to return to competition. His participation in the upcoming World Cup in the United States also remains uncertain, with the Croatian national team expected to wait until the final stages before making a decision.

Before moving to England, Gvardiol developed through the academy of Dinamo Zagreb and later joined RB Leipzig in 2021.

Gvardiol remains under contract with Manchester City until June 2028. At this stage, there are reportedly no active negotiations, but his representatives are said to be exploring future possibilities, with Real Madrid viewed as one of the destinations the Croatian would welcome.
