Recent developments have emerged in Judge Joaquín Aguirre's ongoing investigation into the Negreira case. According to reports by El Español, the Civil Guard has discovered payments made by FC Barcelona to the secretary of José María Enríquez Negreira. The judge's order, issued last Tuesday, reveals that between 2005 and 2006, Barcelona made four transfers totaling €35,555 to an account in the name of Negreira's secretary.
Investigators, as noted in the ruling accessed by El Español, have stated that "there is no commercial, mercantile, or professional relationship between this company and Mrs. Díaz, nor between Barcelona and this person that could justify the payments."
Judge Aguirre, in his order, emphasizes that "there is no other plausible explanation beyond the intent to influence national sports competitions (La Liga and Copa del Rey)" as the motive behind FC Barcelona's payments to the former vice-president of the referees from 1993 to 2018.
Furthermore, in light of the Civil Guard's findings, Judge Aguirre has requested an investigation into ten additional bank accounts—six linked to Negreira's secretary and four associated with José Martínez Alfonso, a close friend of the former number two of the referees.
