Álex Jiménez is steadily earning trust and recognition at AC Milan. Although the Spanish full-back was left out of the Champions League squad, he has shined in Serie A, making 16 appearances and impressing on the right flank of Conceição’s 3-4-3 system.

La Gazzetta dello Sport described Jiménez as “tireless, a leader, humble and brave.” His former coach in Spain’s youth ranks, Julen Guerrero, who oversaw Jiménez at U-15, U-16, and U-17 levels, echoed that praise: “He was unstoppable in one-on-one situations, tactically intelligent, and physically dominant.”

Guerrero highlighted that while many focus on Jiménez’s technical skill, it’s his complete package that stands out: “He’s tireless, strong in both phases of play, can beat defenders or deliver a pinpoint cross from the baseline—he has it all.”

The former Athletic Club icon also revealed that Jiménez had long been on the radar of top clubs: “He was already at Real Madrid when I coached him, and people had high expectations. His rise to the national team felt inevitable. I didn’t discover him—I just watched his talent develop.”

With Real Madrid actively searching for a right-back, Guerrero believes the club should not hesitate to activate the buy-back clause: “He fits the profile perfectly—fast, solid in both defense and attack, and mature beyond his 19 years. He’s built for Madrid.”

Looking ahead, Guerrero also envisions a bright future for Jiménez with the Spanish senior national team: “With Jesús Navas retired and Carvajal injured, there could be opportunities. Álex has the tools to break through, although that will ultimately depend on the national coach and his staff. But his future is very promising.”
