Kylian Mbappé has praised Ibrahima Konaté following the defender's move to Real Madrid, highlighting the qualities that make his France teammate one of the most reliable defenders in the game.

Speaking from the French national team camp, Mbappé gave his approval to Konaté's arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"He's a very aggressive defender, in the best sense. Never a bad move, he's tough in his marking, he wants his opponent to feel like they're going to have a tough night. I love defenders like him on my team, tenacious and tactically flexible, because they're able to go after their marker as well as defend themselves in one-on-one situations, winning duels and being tactically disciplined."

Konaté's arrival is part of a broader defensive overhaul at Real Madrid this summer. The French center-back joins the club after the expiration of his contract with Liverpool, while Denzel Dumfries has also been signed to strengthen the right-back position.

However, Real Madrid's work in the transfer market may not be finished. The club continues to search for additional defensive reinforcements, with Josko Gvardiol, Riccardo Calafiori and Nico Schlotterbeck among the names reportedly under consideration.

As Real Madrid reshape their back line ahead of the new season, Mbappé's comments underline the high expectations surrounding Konaté's arrival.
