Toni Kroos received news on Wednesday that he has been nominated for the Ballon d'Or for the fifth time in his illustrious career. The German midfielder earned his spot on the prestigious list after a standout final season, where he was instrumental in Real Madrid's triumphs in La Liga and the Champions League, as well as guiding Germany to the quarter-finals of the European Championship.

Kroos will find out on October 28 whether he will claim the award, but in typical lighthearted fashion, he's already "working" on eliminating some of his competition. In a playful tone, Kroos humorously urged his former Real Madrid teammates to let him have the win this year since it could be his last chance.

“Come on! You six can do it next year," wrote Kroos in an Instagram story featuring all the Real Madrid nominees—Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Vinicius Jr, Antonio Rüdiger, Fede Valverde, and Kylian Mbappé, the latter of whom he never shared the pitch with.
