Lucas Vázquez was the first to step up and face the media following Real Madrid’s Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal. Speaking candidly after the match, the veteran expressed disappointment but emphasized the team's effort and commitment.
“It was a difficult match,” Vázquez admitted. “We didn’t have all the chances we would have liked. We didn’t lose face in the match, but there were a lot of interruptions, and the balance didn’t fall in our favor. We couldn’t do what we wanted.”
When asked about the team’s performance on the ball, the Spaniard pointed to a lack of sharpness in possession: “Perhaps yes, we lacked more clarity with the ball, a little patience when moving it from side to side to break down a very organized defense. They came to defend — in the first half, they did nothing. In the second, with us fully committed, they found that victory.”
On the responsibility for the result, Vázquez stood by his teammates: “Just like when we win, we’re all responsible when we lose. It’s part of football. Real Madrid fans know we always give our all. Whether it goes well or badly, we always put our best foot forward. We’ll come back stronger. Real Madrid always comes back. Thank you for everything.”
Looking ahead, the full-back made it clear that there’s still a lot to play for: “There’s still a lot of season left. The team is united, doing well, and eager to achieve what remains. We’re going to work hard to achieve everything.”
