Luis Figo joined Real Madrid from Barcelona for €62 million in 2000, with Los Merengues activating his release clause. This was one of the most controversial transfers in the history of football.
Recently, Netflix have released the documentary 'The Figo Affair' which offers a deeper dive into this transfer.
”With everything I experienced at Madrid, I can say with 100% conviction that it was the right decision to join the club," Figo says.
"If you were to ask me which team I’d prefer to be successful, I’d say Real Madrid."
Before leaving Camp Nou, Figo was a fan favorite, but he later became the number one enemy of the people. The fans have never been able to forgive him.
Luis won seven titles during his incredible time at Santiago Bernabeu, including the Champions League, which he was unable to win at Barcelona.
