Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida remains optimistic about the return of concerts to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, despite their current suspension due to noise complaints from local residents.
In an interview with Servimedia, Almeida expressed confidence in reaching an agreement that would benefit both the city and the neighborhood, though he acknowledged that a criminal proceeding is currently underway, which temporarily complicates the matter.
"I’m absolutely convinced we’ll reach an agreement, because it will be good for the city and for the residents,” the mayor stated.
The City Council is closely monitoring Real Madrid’s ongoing technical studies to enhance the stadium’s acoustic insulation. Once the studies are complete, the club is expected to submit them to the city for review and authorization.
Almeida reaffirmed the City Council’s support for improving conditions around the stadium to reduce any impact on residents, highlighting the Bernabéu’s importance as a venue for global events such as concerts and sports.
"I'm in favor of concerts because it's a very important infrastructure for the city. It brings top-tier events like Taylor Swift or the NFL, and we want to keep that momentum while respecting the well-being of residents.”
