In an interview with TNT Sports Brasil, Real Madrid legend Marcelo Vieira expressed his surprise and confusion regarding Rodrygo's omission from the Ballon d'Or's top 30 finalists. Marcelo questioned the selection criteria, stating, "I don't understand it. We don't know what the criteria are." He went on to emphasize his belief that Rodrygo deserves more recognition, boldly declaring, "From my point of view, Rodrygo is at least among the 15 or 10 best players in the world."
Marcelo, who won five Champions League titles with Real Madrid, also shared his thoughts on the future of his former teammates. He predicted that Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Éder Militão, all of whom have already won two Champions League titles, will likely surpass his own tally: "Vinicius has two Champions Leagues, Rodrygo has another two, and Militão has another two. Mbappé has just arrived, so it is possible that they will win another three or four Champions Leagues."
