The EuroLeague has come under fire after announcing fines and suspensions for Kendrick Nunn, Mario Hezonja, and coach Ergin Ataman on Wednesday. These penalties, issued for various infractions during recent games, triggered a wave of backlash, particularly from Real Madrid star Mario Hezonja, who voiced his discontent on social media.
In a pointed response to the EuroLeague's tweet, Hezonja wrote, "You are not making any example, nor improvement out of this." The Croatian forward didn't stop there, criticizing the league for its scheduling conflicts with FIBA and for the quality of officiating in high-stakes matches.
"Ballsy to fine for wearing a damn wristband and getting ejected," Hezonja continued, "but when we need to sit down to talk about schedule and having an experienced crew in big games, then it's politics and players lacking respect. Keep poking."
Hezonja’s remarks reflect growing frustration among players regarding how the league handles discipline, scheduling, and officiating.
