At just 12 years old, Martín Casillas is already beginning to show traits that remind many of his famous father, Iker Casillas. The young goalkeeper, son of Casillas and Sara Carbonero, is currently representing Real Madrid in the LaLiga Futures Under-12 World Cup.
Left-footed and comfortable with the ball at his feet, Martín also shows impressive reflexes in goal, qualities that have already begun to draw attention. His style, particularly his quick reactions, has sparked comparisons with his legendary father and suggests a promising future ahead.
In Real Madrid’s opening match of the tournament against Wydad AC, the young goalkeeper played the first half. Although he was not required to make a save during his time on the pitch, he did witness a goal from the Moroccan side being disallowed for offside.
During the exhibition match organized for the tournament presentation, Martín delivered two eye-catching moments while wearing the Spanish jersey. One came from a powerful shot by Sami, the grandson of Bernd Schuster, which Martín stopped with an excellent high save. The second highlight was an impressive header in which he outjumped everyone around him, showcasing remarkable athleticism.
Adding an emotional touch to the occasion, the coach of that presentation match was Vicente del Bosque, the same coach who led Iker Casillas and Spain to victory at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Martín joined Real Madrid’s academy in 2022 after arriving from CF Pozuelo de Alarcón, starting with the Under-8 B team. He is now the goalkeeper for the Under-12 A side and recently participated in the Crevillent Cup, where he went viral for a spectacular save against Inter Milan.
The Casillas name appears to have a new generation ready to carry it forward.
