Franco Mastantuono opened his scoring account as a Real Madrid player at the Ciudad de Valencia, and the date could hardly have been more symbolic. On September 23rd—exactly 72 years after Alfredo Di Stéfano netted his first goal for Los Blancos—the young forward wrote his own name into the club’s history.

Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the game, Mastantuono expressed his delight: "That’s what they told me when I came off the pitch. It’s incredible. I’m proud to share this coincidence with him. Obviously, I won’t compare myself to such a legend, but these little details are very special. It’s a unique feeling and an incredible moment. I was chasing that first goal tonight, and thankfully it came. On top of that, the team won convincingly, which makes it even more positive. It’s pure joy."

On his goal, assisted by Vinícius Jr., he added: "Vini started the move very well and found me on the other side. Luckily, I finished it. I had missed easier chances before, but above all, I’m happy because I finally scored."

Asked about Xabi Alonso’s instructions, Mastantuono explained: "The coach asks me to play on the right with my stronger foot, to combine and create one-on-one situations, and to also help defensively. He asks me for several things that I feel comfortable doing. Hopefully, that helps the team and allows me to keep getting minutes."

The teenager also shared his mindset: "I feel calm. It’s a dream to be here, but I try to live it naturally. I enjoy many things outside of football—my family, my friends, my people—that keep me grounded. That balance lets me enjoy this beautiful job, which for me is the best in the world."
