Kylian Mbappé has arrived in Saudi Arabia. The French forward landed at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel at 00:26 local time, two hours earlier than mainland Spain, to rejoin his Real Madrid teammates ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona.
Mbappé trained individually on Friday morning at Valdebebas before traveling to Jeddah later in the day. On Saturday, he will take part in training under Xabi Alonso and undergo a final assessment to evaluate the condition of his knee.
The French star feels fully recovered and believes he is ready to help the team in the final. His decision to travel is a clear sign of optimism, as he knows there is a real possibility of featuring in the starting lineup. His presence is a major boost for Real Madrid, who could rely on one of the world’s most decisive players in a crucial Clásico.
Mbappé has an outstanding record against Barcelona, having scored 12 goals in nine matches against the Catalan side. In the most recent Clásico last October at the Santiago Bernabéu, he found the net once, had another goal ruled out, and missed a penalty. Now, his objective is to be decisive once again, this time in a final, against a rival he has consistently troubled throughout his career.
