Kylian Mbappé has addressed the recent controversy surrounding his knee injury while speaking with the media during international duty with the France national team ahead of their friendly against Brazil in the United States.
The Real Madrid forward firmly rejected claims that the club’s medical staff mishandled his injury.
“I’ve never been someone—neither as a person nor as a player—who lives with regrets. I focus on the present and the immediate future. Right now, I feel good, especially my knees, which is important to me. This is partly thanks to my club, who have taken good care of my fitness. I’m very happy to be here, available, and in top condition,” Mbappé said.
He also dismissed reports suggesting that the wrong knee had been examined during his treatment.
“The information that they examined the wrong knee is false. Perhaps I bear some indirect responsibility, because when you don't communicate, rumors arise; it's part of the game. We've always had very clear communication with the club. We're at a crucial point in the season, and I wanted the team to keep winning matches while I was out, and they have, which is very positive. When I got injured at the beginning of January, I wasn't available, and many thought I was the club's only solution, but that's not the case,” he explained.
Mbappé also spoke about his current physical condition ahead of the upcoming match.
“How many minutes will I play tomorrow? I’m ready to play, to start if necessary. But in the end, it will be the coach who decides.”
