To end the speculation, Mbappé clarified the situation in an interview with Téléfoot: “Real Madrid’s No. 10? The club had the idea of giving it to me, and I accepted.”
With this statement, the debate is officially over. It’s clear the decision was driven more by marketing and shirt sales impact than by seniority, contrary to what some media outlets initially suggested.
