Kylian Mbappé’s absence was the main talking point during France’s first training session ahead of the international games. The Real Madrid striker is recovering from a mild right ankle sprain sustained in the match against Villarreal and is currently undergoing treatment. Despite missing today’s session, there is optimism within the French camp since their first match, against Azerbaijan, is scheduled for Friday — giving Mbappé enough time to recover.

France coach Didier Deschamps addressed the issue, downplaying any serious concern about his captain’s condition: “He had a minor discomfort, nothing serious; otherwise, he wouldn’t be here,” he assured. The coach confirmed that he expects Mbappé to be available for both upcoming fixtures — against Azerbaijan and Iceland on October 10 and 13.

While Deschamps remains calm, Real Madrid are understandably cautious. The club is hoping that the Frenchman’s injury doesn’t worsen during international duty, as Xabi Alonso’s side faces a demanding run of fixtures after the break — against Getafe, Juventus, and Barcelona — where having their top scorer fit will be vital.
