Kylian Mbappé’s participation in France’s upcoming match remains in question after the Real Madrid forward arrived at the national team’s training base on Tuesday but left without taking part in the session.
The 26-year-old twisted his ankle during Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Villarreal on Saturday — moments after scoring the team’s third goal — and has now missed two consecutive training sessions despite initial optimism from Didier Deschamps.
The France coach had described the injury as “minor” on Monday, allowing Mbappé to travel from Madrid even though he had skipped the previous group practice. Early reports hinted at a quick recovery, with expectations that the forward would soon rejoin full training.
However, according to COPE journalist Melchor Ruiz, Mbappé only made a brief appearance at Clairefontaine, where he greeted fans and signed autographs before leaving to continue individual treatment.
“He’s a doubt now,” Ruiz reported, as concerns grow about the ankle sprain — the same issue that briefly sidelined the Frenchman during pre-season.
