Real Madrid has been closely linked with Kylian Mbappe throughout his career, but especially in the past 12 months.
However, he ultimately made the decision to remain with PSG, and the forward has spoken about that decision.
"You never know what's going to happen," Mbappe told the New York Times when asked about his future, before recognising the constant lure of Real Madrid. "You've never been there [Real Madrid], but it seems like it's like your house, or something like this."
The player has already admitted that Emmanuel Macron, the French president, had a significant influence on his choice to remain in France.
At the time, it was explained that a phone call from Macron was crucial to persuading Mbappe, and the player has now discussed this more.
"I never imagined I was going to talk with the president about my future, about my future in my career, so it's something crazy, really something crazy," he said about the call he received from the president.
"He told me 'I want you to stay, I don't want you to leave now as you are so important for the country'.
"He said 'You have time to leave, you can stay a little bit more'.
"Of course, when the president says that to you, that counts."
