Kylian Mbappé is suffering from a "hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee," Real Madrid have confirmed in a medical report following tests conducted at the Valdebebas training complex.
The French forward sustained the injury during the second half of the Nations League match against Turkey, in the same play in which he scored the only goal of the game. Mbappé struck the ball with his right foot but injured his left knee during the action.
The injury immediately raised concerns within the French national team, who released him from the squad shortly afterward. Real Madrid were also alerted, having hoped to have Mbappé available again once the international break ended.
The forward is now expected to be sidelined for around 10 to 12 days.
