Ferland Mendy is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel as he moves closer to returning to action for Real Madrid. The French full-back, who suffered an injury last season, is making significant progress in his recovery and is gradually approaching a return to training with his teammates.

Mendy has already been spotted jogging on the pitch at Real Madrid's training ground and even working with the ball. His medical clearance is getting closer, although he will still need time to regain full fitness before returning to competitive action.

Once available again, the Frenchman will face strong competition for the starting left-back position from Marc Cucurella and Álvaro Carreras.

Mendy's future at Real Madrid also remains uncertain. His contract runs until 2028, meaning any decision on his future will depend on both the player's desire to see out his agreement and the club's plans.

His injury problems significantly limited his involvement last season, when he made just nine appearances across all competitions: five in LaLiga, three in the Champions League and one in the Spanish Super Cup. He played a total of 452 minutes.

Since joining Real Madrid, Mendy has made 210 appearances for the club. His immediate priority, however, is to complete his recovery and return to full fitness before assessing what comes next.
