Eder Militão has spoken about his recovery from injury and the arrival of José Mourinho as Real Madrid's new manager in an interview with Sporty Net.
The Brazilian defender expressed his admiration for the Portuguese coach and admitted he is looking forward to working under him next season.
"He's top-class. He's a great manager and I'm eager for next season to start."
Mourinho's arrival could allow Militão additional time to complete his recovery, especially following Real Madrid's recent defensive reinforcements.
The defender also reflected on the frustration of missing the World Cup due to injury.
"It's very painful to miss the World Cup, but you also have to think about your career."
Militão explained that he has tried to maintain a positive mindset throughout the recovery process.
"I could have gotten injured even while playing for the national team. I accepted it and relied heavily on my family."
Although disappointed not to participate in the tournament, he said he will continue to support Brazil from afar.
"I will support the team like any other fan."
The center-back also revealed details of the injury that sidelined him.
"It was when I was going to head a cross. As I turned to shoot, I felt something strange. At first, it didn't seem serious. I walked to the locker room, they ran some tests, and nothing conclusive came up. Then the diagnosis arrived."
Militão acknowledged the mental challenges caused by repeated injuries but believes the experience has helped him grow as a player.
"It's clear that having so many injuries affects you psychologically, but it also gives you experience. Before, I was a very explosive player; now I'm more mature and don't rely so much on speed."
