Éder Militão has successfully undergone surgery and has now begun his recovery process, which is expected to keep him out for around four to five months.
The injury proved more serious than initially thought, with a rupture in the proximal tendon of the biceps femoris in his left leg. It represents a relapse of the issue he suffered in December against Celta Vigo and rules him out for the remainder of the season as well as the World Cup.
The operation took place in Turku, Finland, at the Mehiläinen Neo Sports Hospital, where specialist Lasse Lempainen performed the procedure. Several elite players, including Ousmane Dembélé, Marc-André ter Stegen and Ronald Araújo, have previously undergone treatment under his care.
Militão traveled with members of Real Madrid’s medical staff, who supervised the process. The surgery was completed without complications, allowing him to begin rehabilitation immediately.
The defender now faces a recovery period that could extend into the start of next season. While there is hope he could return closer to four months, the expectation is that he may require a tailored preseason and could miss the opening matches of the next La Liga campaign.
