Éder Militão's injury has raised significant concerns within Real Madrid. The Brazilian defender suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) along with damage to both menisci, delivering a hard blow to the team's morale and strategy.

Dr. Diego García-Germán, a traumatologist and doctor for Spain's Winter Olympic team, provided insights to OkDiario regarding the injury. He highlighted the risk of relapse, stating, "One in five players who suffer an ACL injury experience a second injury." Genetic factors and issues with muscle activation are common contributors to these recurrences.

Despite the gravity of the injury, Dr. García-Germán remains optimistic about Militão's recovery. “This injury does not mark the end of his career. I’m confident he can recover and return to the highest level,” he stated. He emphasized that the complexity of the current injury is heightened by the involvement of both menisci, making the surgery more challenging. However, he reassured that this would likely not extend recovery time, though future issues with the meniscus may arise rather than with the ACL itself.

Mental resilience, according to Dr. García-Germán, will play a critical role in Militão’s rehabilitation. “The psychological impact of this type of injury is substantial. Managing the mental challenges, not just the physical, will be key in overcoming the fear of reinjury and ensuring a full return to elite competition," he concluded.
