An Italian journalist complimented Croatia's captain Luka Modric after the Euro 2024 match against Italy. He thanked Modric for everything he has shown throughout his career, asked him to never retire, and said that Luka was one of the finest players he had ever commentated on.
Modric replied: "Thank you for this wonderful tribute right from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. I'd also like to keep playing forever, but there will probably come a time when I have to hang up my boots. I'll keep playing on; I don't know for how much longer, but thank you very much for your words."
