Luka Modric is set to continue at Real Madrid for another season, following an explicit request from incoming manager Xabi Alonso, who is already shaping the squad for the upcoming campaign.
Although Alonso has yet to be officially announced, the future head coach of Los Blancos sees Modric’s veteran presence and leadership as crucial in the dressing room. The Croatian maestro, now 39, is still regarded as a role model on and off the pitch.
Modric’s current contract runs until June 2025, meaning he would enter his 14th season with the club. This renewal will mark Xabi Alonso’s second major decision, after greenlighting the signing of Dean Huijsen.
Even before taking charge, Alonso is already leaving his mark on the squad composition—highlighting both continuity and strategic reinforcements ahead of a pivotal season for the club.
