José Mourinho has introduced a giant tactical screen at Valdebebas as part of his efforts to modernize and streamline Real Madrid’s training sessions.

The screen has been installed at pitch level on pitches 1 and 2 and can be moved around the training complex. It allows Mourinho to stop an exercise and immediately show his players the movements or positioning he wants them to correct.

The device effectively serves as a digital whiteboard, displaying playing-system graphics, animations, replays and videos of upcoming opponents. Mourinho can demonstrate a specific situation on the screen and then immediately apply it on the pitch, with the players already positioned where they need to be.

This approach brings the theoretical explanation and its practical execution into the same training exercise. The technology is already being used on the main training pitch at Valdebebas, giving Mourinho another tool to communicate his tactical ideas.

The aim is also to reduce the need for lengthy video sessions inside a meeting room. Mourinho’s coaching staff want tactical analysis to be quicker, more dynamic and easier for the players to understand, while keeping the squad engaged throughout the process.

The players have welcomed the method, which allows them to see and understand corrections without having to spend extended periods away from the pitch. Luis Enrique is also among the coaches who have supported this type of approach.

The new screen reflects how Mourinho’s methods have evolved since his first spell at Real Madrid 13 years ago. His obsession with tactics and detail remains unchanged, but he now has a larger coaching staff and access to technological tools that can help deliver his ideas more quickly and clearly.
