José Mourinho has confirmed that he will speak publicly about his future next Monday, May 18, once the Portuguese league season comes to an end.

Following Benfica’s 2-2 draw against Braga, Mourinho was asked whether he still intended to remain at Benfica next season, as he had previously suggested back in March.

The Portuguese coach avoided giving a definitive answer, insisting that the focus remains on Benfica’s final league match.

“The final week of the season is not the time to think about the future or contracts,” Mourinho explained during his press conference.

He also revealed that he has deliberately isolated himself from outside noise during the decisive final stretch of the campaign.

“Once the match against Estoril is over, starting Monday I’ll be able to answer questions about my future as a coach and Benfica’s future,” he added.

Mourinho continues to be strongly linked with a potential return to Real Madrid as a possible successor to Álvaro Arbeloa. However, the Portuguese manager insisted that he has not spoken with any other club at this stage.

“There’s only one game left, only eight days. Relax, there’s just one week left,” Mourinho concluded.
