Argentine journalist Sebastián Fest, author of Gracias. El legado de Rafael Nadal, a book that delves into the career of the Spanish tennis legend, believes that Rafael Nadal will not settle into a quiet retirement once he leaves professional tennis. In an interview with La Razón, Fest shared his view that Nadal will likely remain active in some capacity where his thoughts and influence continue to be heard. "I don't see Nadal retiring and doing nothing. I see him doing something in which we continue to hear his thoughts," Fest remarked.
As Nadal's retirement is official now, speculation is growing about what his post-tennis career might look like. One intriguing possibility is his involvement with Real Madrid, potentially as the club’s president. Nadal has previously hinted at his interest in such a role, a prospect Fest finds entirely plausible.
Fest emphasized Nadal's strong connection to Real Madrid, his lifelong passion for football, and his extensive network of contacts, which would make him a strong candidate for the role. "I have no doubt that he would like to be president of Real Madrid. He has a great passion for football, a great passion for Real Madrid, and an unbeatable, incomparable network of contacts," Fest noted. He even suggested that Nadal’s network rivals that of Spain’s most influential figures, including the King and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
While it remains to be seen if Nadal will take up the challenge of leading Real Madrid, Fest believes it’s a role Nadal would excel in, and one he might seriously consider when Florentino Pérez eventually steps down as president.
