Nico Paz's return to Real Madrid is no longer considered a certainty despite months of speculation suggesting the club would activate its buy-back clause.
The attacking midfielder's impressive development at Como had convinced Real Madrid to seriously consider exercising the €9 million option included in his departure agreement. However, recent developments have cast doubt over the operation.
According to Alberto Pereiro of Onda Cero, Real Madrid are prepared to respect the player's desire to remain at Como for another season and are not expected to bring him back this summer.
Paz has repeatedly expressed his wish to continue playing regularly and further his development. Real Madrid, meanwhile, are unable to guarantee him a prominent role in the first team due to strong competition in his preferred positions, particularly from players such as Arda Güler and Jude Bellingham.
The report also suggests that the arrival of Bernardo Silva has further complicated the situation. The Portuguese midfielder, a player specifically requested by José Mourinho, is expected to have an important role in the squad next season.
With Real Madrid already well-stocked in midfield and potentially needing to make room through player departures, the club reportedly sees little sense in bringing Paz back at this stage.
As things stand, the Argentine international appears increasingly likely to continue his development at Como rather than return to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer.
