The relationship between Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid is reportedly not in the best state, according to journalist Josep Pedrerol.
On El Chiringuito de Jugones, Pedrerol claimed that members of Mbappé’s entourage believe Vinícius is attempting to portray the French forward as the “villain” within the squad. The tension between the two players is said to have developed following the departure of Xabi Alonso.
According to Pedrerol, a key moment came during El Clásico, when Alonso substituted Vinícius and the Brazilian reacted angrily on the bench, reportedly shouting “I’m leaving!” Mbappé is said to have interpreted the incident as a direct message to the club hierarchy.
Real Madrid’s season has been marked by disappointment, with the team finishing without major trophies for a second consecutive year. As a result, scrutiny has increased on the club’s star players, particularly Mbappé, who has faced criticism over his conduct and decisions during injury spells.
Tensions between Vinícius and Mbappé are also fueled by ongoing debates over whether the two can effectively coexist in the same attacking system, with speculation growing that changes may eventually be required.
Despite the noise, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has publicly supported both players. In recent comments to Pedrerol, he highlighted Mbappé’s goalscoring impact while also praising Vinícius for his decisive role in the club’s recent Champions League success.
For now, the club maintains confidence that both stars will remain key parts of the project moving forward.
