Antonio Rüdiger will be available for Real Madrid’s crucial Champions League clash against Arsenal after UEFA opted against imposing a suspension. Instead, the governing body has issued a warning, stating that both Rüdiger and Kylian Mbappé will face a one-match ban if they repeat similar offenses within the next year. Additionally, UEFA has fined the German defender €40,000, while Mbappé must pay €30,000. Dani Ceballos has also been fined €20,000, but Vinícius Jr. has escaped punishment entirely.
With all players cleared to feature against Arsenal if Ancelotti sees fit, the only uncertainty remains Ceballos, whose availability will depend on his recovery from injury.
The four Real Madrid players were under investigation for their gestures during the celebrations at the Metropolitano Stadium after securing a spot in the quarterfinals. Madrid’s primary concern was Rüdiger, whose actions UEFA deemed more serious than those of his teammates. However, the disciplinary body ultimately decided on financial penalties rather than suspensions, ensuring Ancelotti will have his key defender available—especially crucial given the absence of Aurélien Tchouaméni due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
The investigation initially stemmed from Atlético Madrid's complaint, which arose after their club was scrutinized for objects thrown onto the pitch. This prompted UEFA to also examine the conduct of the Real Madrid players.
