Rayo Vallecano is already seeking for a new coach for the coming season. Last Saturday, Andoni Iraola declared that he will step down as manager of the team after three seasons, forcing the Rayista board to take action. In Vallecas, one of the names they consider is Raul González Blanco.

Real Madrid Castilla coach could quit the white academy at the end of the season and already has a suitor in the First Division. Castilla is fighting for promotion to Segunda and could take the first step in the play-offs against Barça Atletic in the Clásico of youngsters. As a result, for the time being, Raul will not make any decisions ahead of time and will concentrate solely on the challenge with his present team.

Yet, Rayo may have initiated some preliminary contacts with the man from Madrid in order to learn firsthand what his future plans are. It is no secret that Raul's ambition is to coach Real Madrid's first team at some point, but the nearly guaranteed continuity of Carlo Ancelotti would put a halt to his ascent for the time being.

Raul Martin Presa, president of the Rayista club, would have made the proposition. He wants the former Real Madrid star to be the next step in their project. Similarly, Raul would be the greatest candidate to replace Iraola in this case.

On the other hand, given Castilla's success over the last three seasons with Raul, it is natural for the coach to desire to take on bigger challenges. Rayo would be a great choice to continue showcasing his talent on the bench in the First Division, even if it does not appear to be in the club of his life at the present.
