Raúl Asencio has been convicted of drunk driving following an incident in southern Gran Canaria two weeks ago.

According to Atlántico Hoy, the Real Madrid defender was stopped at a routine police checkpoint in a leisure area in the south of Gran Canaria on August 16 while driving his Porsche. There was no accident and he was not driving recklessly.

However, his alcohol level was recorded at 0.90 mg/l, almost four times the legal limit of 0.25 mg/l. Since the level exceeded 0.60 mg/l, the offense was treated as a crime against road safety rather than an administrative violation.

Asencio accepted the sentence and was convicted three days later, on August 19, following a fast-track trial held in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

The Real Madrid player was fined €14,400, calculated over four months at a daily rate of €120, and had his driving licence suspended for eight months.

The case was resolved through summary proceedings, with the court imposing both the financial penalty and the temporary suspension of his driving licence.
