Raúl Asencio has expressed his excitement about working under José Mourinho following the Portuguese manager's return to Real Madrid.

Speaking to David Ibáñez on El Desmarque during the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix in Montmeló, the defender shared his enthusiasm for the club's new project.

"Now, with the new project, with Mourinho, I think it's very exciting and I'm really looking forward to starting."

Asencio also reflected on Mourinho's first spell at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013 and the impact it had on him as a young supporter.

"I was little and I saw it, how he changed the team, the competitiveness he introduced to the club, the anger and grit... I think those are characteristics that make me who I am as a player."

The 23-year-old reiterated his eagerness to begin the new season under the Portuguese coach.

"I am very excited to start with Mourinho at the helm."

Asked whether Real Madrid can win La Liga next season, Asencio responded with confidence.

"Yes, of course. He set the record (100 points and 121 goals). Let's go for it."

The defender also commented on the possibility of Bernardo Silva joining the club, praising the Portuguese midfielder's quality.

"He is very, very good, it would be a leap in quality for the team."

Asencio concluded by backing the club's transfer strategy and welcoming any new additions.

"We will welcome everything that comes with open arms, and we are sure that the project they are doing is incredible."
