Raúl Asencio, the 21-year-old Real Madrid defender who recently joined the first team from Castilla, has drawn high praise from his former coach, Miguel Gonzalez. Asencio has been compared to the legendary Sergio Ramos, who played for Real Madrid from 2005 to 2021.

Gonzalez noted, "He has immense potential for improvement. He has developed and gone through several stages, but there is still room for growth. He is always in a good mood, moves well... He plays football just like Sergio Ramos. Sometimes, his fearlessness can affect him, but over time, he will fix that. He will manage, I am sure."

While acknowledging the pressure that comes with such comparisons, Gonzalez added, "I am wary of comparisons because when someone compares themselves to Sergio, it creates a lot of pressure, but he truly resembles a player of that profile. He is a fiery guy, with a lot of ambitions, and he is a leader. I believe he can become Real Madrid's captain."
