Vinicius Jr.'s contract renewal is officially in motion. Sources close to the negotiations have confirmed that Real Madrid has contacted the player's agents to discuss the figure the Brazilian star desires for his new contract, which is set to expire in 2027. Vinicius has already provided his response, and now the club is expected to give their reply.

The push from Saudi Arabia to sign Vinicius has accelerated the renewal process, even though Real Madrid originally intended to address the matter next summer when Vinicius would enter the final two years of his contract.

In 2022, Vinicius signed his current contract, but the agreement wasn't publicly announced until more than a year later, on October 31, 2023. This time, the talks were revealed earlier due to an unexpected comment by the player himself in a mixed-zone interview at the Etihad Stadium. When questioned by Brazilian journalist Tatiana Mantovani on TNT, Vinicius expressed his excitement: “It’s exciting to start discussions with Madrid about my renewal. I’ve always said I want to play here for a long time, to make history and feel the support of the fans, the president, and my teammates. God willing, we’ll resolve everything soon so I can stay here for many more years.”

Vinicius’ 2022 renewal was for five years, until 2027, with a contract structured progressively, starting at 10 million euros and rising to around 18 million euros per season. Additionally, he has bonuses linked to winning major awards like "The Best" and the Ballon d'Or, which increase his earnings by 2 million euros in the final 2 years of his contract.

Real Madrid is handling this renewal with caution, aiming to maintain wage balance among its top stars: Vinicius, Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham. Mbappé is reportedly earning a similar base salary to Vinicius (around 15 million euros net per season), though he also received a 40 million euro signing bonus, effectively adding 8 million euros annually. Meanwhile, Bellingham, who currently earns between 8 and 10 million euros, is also expected to have his contract reviewed soon as his performance has outgrown his current terms.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, has reportedly offered Vinicius an eye-watering 1 billion euros over five years. Though Real Madrid is not expected to match such astronomical figures, Vinicius remains committed to staying with the club. His desire to be recognized as a global superstar is supported by past events, when a Saudi representative sought to meet Florentino Perez last summer. Perez declined and referred them to Vinicius' release clause of 1 billion euros. The Saudi representative later held a phone conversation with Madrid’s CEO, José Ángel Sánchez, where they were told, “Vini is not for sale.” While this halted the negotiations then, sources close to the player believe Saudi Arabia will attempt another aggressive move next summer, and Real Madrid aims to finalize the renewal before that happens.
