FIFA officially confirmed that a new Club World Cup will take place in 2025 which will involve 32 teams from different confederations.
UEFA will be represented by 12 clubs: the Champions League winners between 2021 and 2024 and eight clubs decided based on sporting ranking in the same period. Thus, Real Madrid have already qualified as the winners of the Champions League in 2022. The other confirmed UEFA team is Chelsea, the winner of the 2021 edition.
In the event that a team wins more than one Champions League during this time, the other slots will be decided by the rankings, with a maximum of two non-winning teams per country.
Additionally, FIFA announced that the new Club World Cup format will be held every four years and that there will be an annual competition between the winners of the continental cups (under a new name).
