Frederico Pena, agent and close confidant of Vinicius Junior, met with Real Madrid’s general manager José Ángel Sánchez on Monday morning at Valdebebas. According to Jugones de LaSexta, the meeting lasted an hour and a half. It was originally scheduled for the summer and was not related to the Brazilian’s current form or the different circumstances he is experiencing this season.
Last spring, Vinicius and the club’s management had already reached a mutual agreement to extend his contract, securing his long-term future at Real Madrid and distancing him from rumors. However, the player chose to put the renewal process on hold, radically changing the outlook. With his contract now running until June 30, 2027, the situation is unusual for a player of his caliber at the peak of his career, and both sides needed to sit down and talk.
In this new context, every move is being closely scrutinized. Vinicius is no longer considered untouchable, and Xabi Alonso’s recent decisions have reinforced that. The left wing of Real Madrid’s attack is now being shared between Vinicius and Rodrygo, while Mbappé has firmly taken up the central role—just as Ancelotti had once envisioned.
