Real Madrid have not given up on Alessandro Bastoni, while the Italian defender reportedly remains open to a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.

According to journalist Miguel 'Látigo' Serrano, Bastoni would already be a Real Madrid player if the decision depended solely on him. However, the Inter Milan defender will wait until the Italian club begins preseason training before deciding his next step.

Bastoni is believed to be José Mourinho's preferred option to strengthen the center-back position, but the move is currently on hold. Real Madrid first need to resolve several issues, including player departures, before making further additions to the squad.

The club's priority remains finalizing Vinicius Júnior's renewal, along with another major contract extension reportedly mentioned by Fabrizio Romano. After that, Real Madrid will focus on departures, with Raúl Asencio considered the most likely candidate to leave.

While Dani Ceballos and Fran García have already departed, more exits could be needed to open the door for new signings. Players such as Asencio, Franco Mastantuono, Gonzalo, Pitarch and Eduardo Camavinga will have the opportunity during preseason to convince Mourinho of their importance.

Bastoni would provide experience and leadership to a defense facing some uncertainty due to Éder Militão's injury history and doubts surrounding Ibrahima Konaté's adaptation. The transfer remains complicated, but both the player and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in making it happen if the right conditions are created.
