Ancelotti and his coaching staff are inclined to assign Lunin the role of Real Madrid's starting goalkeeper for the remainder of the season based on his recent performances.
The Real Madrid board would be in agreement over Lunin's selection to start ahead of Kepa, according to journalist Jorge C. Picon.
The constant changes in the goalkeeping position have complicated the situation. The rotations have impacted both players’ confidence, with both goalkeepers making mistakes against Atletico Madrid (Kepa in the Supercopa and Lunin in the Copa). It has also affected the defense, with Real Madrid conceding more goals in recent matches.
As a result, Los Blancos have decided to start Lunin as the first option instead of rotating players ahead of a crucial stretch of games.
