Real Madrid C’s battle to avoid relegation continues, as they now face a playoff to retain their place in the Segunda RFEF. Their fate was sealed in heartbreaking fashion on the final day of the season, when survival was within reach—only to slip away in the dying moments.
Los Blancos were locked in a tense fight with Moscardó, both teams level on points, but with Moscardó ahead due to goal difference. Madrid C needed to better their rival’s result to escape the playoff zone. For much of the matchday, it looked like they would pull it off.
With Guadalajara leading Moscardó 2–0, Madrid C’s own game against already-relegated Illescas was finely poised. A 2–1 lead gave them a lifeline, and safety seemed assured.
But disaster struck. Guadalajara were reduced to nine men, and Moscardó mounted a stunning late comeback—scoring three unanswered goals, including a last-minute winner to seal a 3–2 victory. Madrid C’s win was rendered meaningless, and their hopes of automatic safety vanished in a flash.
After a frustrating campaign marked by inconsistency—10 wins, 12 draws, and 12 defeats—Real Madrid C must now regroup and prepare for the relegation playoff. The draw will take place tomorrow at 1:15 p.m.
