Real Sociedad signed Kubo a year ago for almost six million euros, a sum that now seems ridiculous in light of his outstanding performances.
The txuriurdin club insisted at that time that Real Madrid would not have a repurchase option, but instead they agreed that Los Blancos reserve the 50% of the capital gain in the case that the Japanese international is sold in future.
This means that they can re-sign him for a reported fee of €33m, with Kubo having a €60m release clause.
Kubo would be a bargain at €33 million, but the important is how and where he would play in this current squad. Time only will give us the answers.
