Benfica are pushing to sign Almería forward Sergio Arribas after the Spanish club narrowly missed out on promotion to La Liga.
According to O Jogo, Benfica are in regular contact with the player's representatives as they work to reach an agreement on personal terms. The Portuguese club have also submitted an opening offer to Almería worth €25 million for the former Real Madrid academy product.
A potential transfer would also have financial implications for Real Madrid. When Arribas joined Almería, the club retained 50 percent of the rights to any future transfer.
As a result, Almería would have to share part of the transfer fee with Real Madrid, making the valuation of the player a key factor in any negotiations. The sale could also help Almería improve their Financial Fair Play position.
