Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Aymeric Laporte from Al-Nassr during the January transfer window, according to The Athletic. This development comes as the club explores mid-season reinforcements for their defense, particularly at centre-back.

With David Alaba’s recovery progressing slower than expected and Dani Carvajal, who had been providing emergency cover at centre-back, ruled out for the season with an ACL tear, concerns have mounted over the depth of Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive options.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, "Madrid are looking to reinforce at centre-back, and the likelihood of them making a signing in this position in January has grown."

Real Madrid’s transfer team has already compiled a shortlist of targets, which includes Vitor Reis and Castello Lukeba. However, Aymeric Laporte is perhaps the most intriguing name on the list.

Currently playing at Al-Nassr alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Laporte impressed at this summer’s European Championships, showing that he still has the quality to compete at the highest level.

As a result, the reigning La Liga champions are ‘considering’ a proposal for the Spanish international’s signature, though no formal contact has been made yet.
