Real Madrid’s goalkeeping situation is under close scrutiny after Andriy Lunin finished the match against Real Sociedad with a soleus injury. His availability for the upcoming fixture is uncertain, while Thibaut Courtois remains in training with his sights set on a potential return against Arsenal. This leaves the possibility of Real Madrid relying on their third-choice goalkeeper, Fran González, for the Valencia match.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper, standing at 1.98 meters, has been integrated into the first-team dynamic since the 2023 preseason. Backed by renowned goalkeeping coach Luis Llopis, González has earned the confidence of both the coaching staff and his teammates. He has remained active this season, featuring in 16 matches for Real Madrid Castilla, including the last two, ensuring he is in good shape for the challenge.

The club views Fran González as a long-term investment, evident from his contract extension just a year after his arrival. However, the primary focus remains on ensuring Courtois is fully fit to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. The Belgian goalkeeper, who suffered an injury during an international match against Ukraine, has been undergoing rehabilitation, focusing on gym work and physiotherapy at Valdebebas.

Lunin’s potential return will depend on his recovery, but his chances of featuring against Valencia or Arsenal remain uncertain.
