Real Madrid has officially announced the departure of Alberto Toril as head coach of the women’s team, bringing an end to a four-season chapter. Although he didn’t secure any trophies during his tenure, Toril oversaw key milestones in the club’s growth — most notably, guiding the team to its first-ever Champions League quarterfinal appearance. Still, the club’s leadership believes it’s time to take a decisive step forward and begin competing for major silverware.

The search for Toril’s successor, however, is proving to be more complicated than expected. According to Cadena COPE, Real Madrid has approached various current and former club figures. Santiago Solari and Guti were contacted but both declined the offer. The job was also offered to Aitor Karanka, formerly assistant to José Mourinho, but he too turned it down. Most recently, Luis García, a former Espanyol player, opted to join Las Palmas instead of taking charge of the women’s side.

Despite these setbacks, the club is determined to continue its search. After several rejections from their top choices, the process is dragging on, but the objective remains clear: find a manager capable of elevating the women’s team to a title-winning level. Real Madrid is no longer satisfied with just competing — they want to win, and that requires bold leadership on the bench.
