Álvaro Carreras is on the verge of becoming a new Real Madrid player, according to journalist Eduardo Burgos of AS. Burgos reports that the official announcement is expected within the next few days, as an agreement with the player is already finalized, with only minor details left to iron out with Benfica.

The promising Spanish left-back is set to sign a six-year contract, earning a gross annual salary of between €8–9 million. His arrival adds further depth to Real Madrid’s defense ahead of the Club World Cup in the United States, where Xabi Alonso will begin implementing his tactical blueprint with a revamped squad.

Carreras will join Fran García as one of the two left-backs available for the tournament. This signing reflects Madrid’s clear intent to address recent weaknesses and marks another step in the new era under the Tolosa-born manager, who is tasked with rejuvenating the team starting this summer.
