The highly anticipated meeting between Real Madrid and the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) to address the controversial Romero-Mbappé incident, in which Real Madrid called for the expulsion of the Espanyol player, took place on Monday at the RFEF facilities in Las Rozas.
After the meeting, Real Madrid sources shared some insights with MARCA. "The CTA logically denies any negative bias against Real Madrid in the refereeing, but the club perceives it and has expressed this view," said a representative from Real Madrid.
"As expected, the audio recordings from the match against Espanyol were reviewed. Although the decisions were discussed, they haven't changed the club’s opinion on what transpired during that match," the source added.
Real Madrid remains firm in its stance, advocating for significant reforms to the refereeing system. "The system, with its successes and failures, would be more tolerable for everyone if there was a general policy of transparency, particularly regarding refereeing decisions, evaluations, promotions, and relegations. The CTA has indicated it is open to considering changes in this area," the club explained.
The meeting was described as "serious but polite," according to the Real Madrid sources consulted by MARCA.
