Rodri Hernández continues to be closely linked with a future move to Real Madrid, whether as early as next season or in 2026. Despite being sidelined recently due to a serious knee injury, the Manchester City midfielder remains a key figure in the minds of José Ángel Sánchez and Florentino Pérez, who see him as a potential anchor in Xabi Alonso’s future midfield setup.

True to their tradition of discretion and class, Real Madrid has already taken steps behind the scenes. According to Pepe Herrero, a contributor to Ramón Álvarez de Mon’s channel, Florentino Pérez personally reached out to Rodri after Spain’s European Championship triumph in Germany to congratulate him, while also subtly leaving the door open for a move to the Bernabéu.

Meanwhile, Paco Rabadán, a journalist with OkDiario and another contributor to the same channel, has suggested that both Rodri and Martín Zubimendi are top targets for the Madrid midfield. In particular, Real Madrid will be closely monitoring Rodri’s form at the upcoming Club World Cup in the U.S.—a standout performance there could prompt a serious move for the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner.

As for Zubimendi, his arrival is still a very real option. Though he was previously rumored to be close to joining Arsenal, all indications now point to his preference for Real Madrid, largely due to his strong connection with Xabi Alonso. His €60 million release clause at Real Sociedad makes the operation feasible for Madrid if they choose to activate it.
